Today, we enjoyed some lovely mild weather as seven of us and a dog went for a peaceful amble around Pucklechurch and then on to a couple of disused collieries (or coal mines — we discussed what they were supposed to be called, but came to no firm conclusion).

We were privileged to be given a guided tour around the Brandy Bottom Colliery by one of the volunteers, who tried (and failed) to condense his usual 3/4 hour tour into 15 minutes.

The buildings and working are currently undergoing restoration.

We stopped for our morning break at the Old Dairy café in Pucklechurch, which we would highly recommend. The coffee and cakes were particularly good.
Afterwards, we enjoyed lunch together at the Rose & Crown (also in Pucklechurch). All in all, we (including the dog) appreciated our morning together, and thanks to Dave for leading us on an interesting tour.
A really super walk thanks Dave and Julie!
