Today, our three walking groups: Walkers, Amblers and Strollers combined for a fantastic day walking in Bristol. Here is how the day unfolded across each group:
The day started at 08.30am with five walkers meeting at The Lock Keeper Pub in Keynsham. The walkers set off for the 9 mile linear route following the River Avon to Bristol.

At 10am, after walking 4.5 miles, the Walkers were joined by the Amblers. The two groups enjoyed a coffee stop, alongside the river, before continuing the journey into Bristol.

Meanwhile, a group of thirteen Strollers gathered at St Mary Redcliffe Church, having travelled into the city by various routes.

The Strolles started the morning with tea, coffee and lively conversation in the church’s unique vaulted crypt cafe. While exploring the spectacular interior, the group discovered a Chaotic Pendulum, one of only two in the entire world (the other being in Australia). Powered by water, its movement is entirely unpredictable, making for a captivating sight! From there, the Strollers continued across Queen Square, widely regarded as one of the finest Georgian squares in England. Walking through the city centre, they also explored St John’s on the Wall, a fascinating narrow church built into the ancient City Wall. As the only surviving church of the four that originally sat astride the city gates, it offered a real glimpse into medieval Bristol.

The three groups made their way through the bustling Bristol harbourside to cross paths at the Ritorno Lounge Restaurant to enjoy a fantastic, well deserved lunch together. The afternoon was filled with great food, wonderful company and plenty of lively discussions about the success of the day and exciting potential route ideas for 2027.

A huge thank you to everyone for organising such a seamless, memorable and highly enjoyable day out in Bristol.
