Canine Friends: Brown’s Folly – 2½ miles

Saturday 28th June at 10:00 am 12:00 pm

Brown's Folly

This walk takes us along the top of Farleigh Rise near Bathford, just outside Bath. The folly is a tower that serves no purpose whatsoever, except as a meeting place for hunting parties by one of the former owners of the estate — see here.

Locally, it is often referred to as the Pepper Pot, because it looks like one from a distance. Whilst there are (or used to be) stairs inside, the structure is relatively dangerous, though it has been repaired so as not to be in any danger of falling down for the foreseeable future.

Our walk takes us along the top and back, mostly on different parallel paths.
