Stantonbury Hill: 5½ or 5 miles

This walk starts and ends at Holy Trinity Church at Newton St Loe, where there is usually plenty of space to park. It starts by going through the campus of Bath Spa University at Newton Park, past St. Loe's Castle and on to Stanton Prior. From there the route goes up Stantonbury Hill, through the woodland there and then down the other side. There is then a section along the main road as far as The Wheatsheaf at Corston (which is actually some way outside Corston, and possibly a suitable place to have lunch). There it turns off onto a narrow lane and then back onto paths across fields. You are then back into the grounds of Bath Spa University, passing the lakes there before taking the path back to Newton St. Loe and Holy Trinity Church.

There are alternative ways down Stantonbury Hill (marked in blue) which shorten the route to about 5 miles and avoid the main road section. These are not public footpaths but maintenance trackways. Whether they are currently accessible should be checked out first.
