We pass on the sad news that long-time member Hilary Smedley died yesterday afternoon. She moved into the Chocolate Quarter recently but had been unwell and on oxygen for some time. She was a member for many years along with her late husband, Fred, who kept our accounts. She was always interested in the state of the club and was keen to support the committee and members. She had been Programme Secretary for a term relatively recently. She will always be remembered.
Very lovely thoughtful lady, who worked hard for Saltford Walkers. I’ll miss her
I enjoyed Hilary’s company for many years, thank you for letting us know this sad news.
A lively and enthusiastic lady who will be missed. Rest in Peace Hilary
The service in the lovely old church was well attended – Hilary was clearly a popular church member, and there were 6 of us from the S. Walkers. A nice tribute to Hilary was read out by her daughter Erica. Nigel C.
