Lansdown in the fog

A group of 13 intrepid walkers left Saltford Hall with the aim of finding the top of Kelston Round Hill, which was shrouded in mist as we started.

The 9-mile walk took us behind St. Mary’s Church, along the cycle track and across the fields to The Swan at Swineford. It then took us through Upton Cheyney and North Stoke for a coffee stop at a view point next to Pipley Wood. Unfortunately, there was no view as Lansdown was covered in a low-level, very damp mist.

After that, we proceeded across Lansdown Golf Course, towards the race track pavilion, which was also hiding in cloud. From Prospect Stile we headed down the hill, up over Kelston (hooray… back into the mist), and finally down towards Kelston Cheese Cafe for our lunch stop. Lastly, we walked across the last of the fields to Saltford to arrive back at Saltford Hall at 2pm… as the rain started.

Some of the walkers were quite laid back about things
