Route: Nigel Hathaway. Walk Leaders: Izzy Osborne, Sue Rogers (Long Walkers and Amblers), Peter Wakeling (Strollers).
Six walkers met at the Bath Spa train station to start our walk to Bradford-on-Avon. We walked along the canal towpath as far as the George Inn at Bathampton. From here, we walked through fields towards the Crown Inn at Bathford to meet up with 3 walkers from the Amblers Group.

There was then a steep uphill climb to the Browne’s Folly Nature Reserve. The steepness of the path was rewarded by spectacular views across the Avon Valley towards Bath and Solsbury Hill.

We followed a route through Sally in the Woods. Crossing the road near Farleigh Wick, we then walked across fields before arriving at the outskirts of Bradford-on-Avon. As we descended into Bradford-on-Avon we followed footpaths which gave us fantastic views over the town with the Westbury White Horse visible in the distance. We then rejoined the canal towpath and walked along to the Lock Inn.
At the Lock Inn, we were joined by 10 members of the Strollers group. The Strollers walked from Bradford-on-Avon to Avoncliffe and back.

We all had an enjoyable lunch in perfect weather before people departed by train or bus.

Well done to the walk leaders and all that took part, lovely weather and refreshments too!
Thank you June S. for inviting me on the September 6 walk and thanks to all for bringing me along. I enjoyed the company/camaraderie, the scenery, the horses and the lunch at The Lock Inn afterwards.
Cheers,
