Annual General Meeting

This will be held in the Avon room at Saltford Hall and will be followed by an American Supper (i.e. where everyone brings along a contribution to the food - please label any non-obvious food so that people with allergies are aware).

Long Walkers: Lansdown – 9 miles

A classic local walk taking in Upton Cheyney, Lansdown Racecouse and Kelton Roundhill. As we all know, this means there are hills to climb and come down.

Amblers: Shipham – 5 miles

A gentle circular walk through Star and the old mining settlement at Winterhead. Shipham was listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Sipeham, meaning 'The sheep home'. The hamlet of Star is in the same parish, along with Rowberrow. The mine at Winterhead was a lead mine.

Postponed Long Walkers: Berkeley and Sharpness Canal – 9 miles

Along the way, we will see the The Purton Hulks (or Purton Ships' Graveyard) which is a number of abandoned boats and ships, deliberately beached beside the River Severn near Purton in Gloucestershire, to reinforce the river banks. Amblers: Swineford – 6 miles

The walk encompasses Swineford, Upton Cheyney, Bitton and Oldland Common. There will be a coffee stop at a coffee shop half-way through.

Long Walkers: Wells and Wookey Hole – 9½ miles

Starting in Wells, this circular walk takes in Tor Hill, Fairy Glen, Pen Hill, Ebbor Gorge, and Wookey. We walk past the Bishop's Palace before climbing up Tor Hill and through the Ebbor Gorge to Wookey Hole.
